Overview

You Are My Sunshine’s Science & Art Camp is a fun, creative summer (and school-break) program for curious kids ages 2–10, designed to spark wonder through science, art, and nature play. The camp is led by a former biochemist, which means every day is packed with real experiments — think volcanoes, ladybugs, planets — and plenty of messy, colorful art projects. The atmosphere is relaxed yet intentional: small groups, mostly outdoor activities, and age-appropriate exploration help children feel safe, inspired, and free to learn by doing.

What makes this camp special is its focus on "whole child" development. Kids don’t just watch science happen — they interact with it, manipulate materials, and build their own understanding. At the same time, creative art time gives them a chance to express ideas, strengthen fine motor skills, and build confidence. For younger children, the camp emphasizes exploration and play; older campers can engage more deeply with scientific concepts while still having fun painting, building or discovering in nature. The result is an enriching, joyful experience that nurtures curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.

Why We Love It

  • Science isn’t “just a demo” — kids actually mix, build and explore in hands-on experiments
  • Most of the week happens outdoors, giving children real time with nature
  • Art and creativity are woven through every day, helping campers express ideas and build confidence

Best for

  • Young children (ages 2–10) who love to touch, build and paint
  • Parents looking for a small-group, hands-on educational experience, not just babysitting
  • Kids who are naturally curious, love nature, and are ready to explore science in a fun way

Accommodation and Meals

Safety

Safety is built in through small group sizes and structured, well-supervised activities. Instructors are experienced, and the camp environment enables children to explore nature in a controlled and safe manner. Outdoor science experiments and nature play occur under the careful guidance of adults. Because the camp often operates outdoors, staff encourage sun-safe habits, such as wearing hats, applying sunscreen, and staying hydrated, to help ensure that kids stay safe while immersed in learning.

Camp Traditions

Camp traditions at You Are My Sunshine center on curiosity, creativity, and discovery. Daily rituals include morning and afternoon science explorations, hands-on art sessions, and time outdoors to connect with nature. There are occasional thematic days focused on planets, bugs, or color, making each week feel fresh and memorable. For many children, the camp becomes a place to test ideas, ask big questions, and share creations. Over time, repeat campers build friendships and become more confident exploring independently, which fosters a sense of belonging to a community of young scientists and artists.

Activities Program

The program at this camp enables children to dive into science and art in a meaningful way, blending structured experiments with open-ended creative play. Mornings usually focus on science: children might build volcanoes, study insects, or make simple machines. Afternoons transition into art: painting, sculpting, or nature-inspired crafts. Throughout the week, there’s also time for gardening, nature walks, and play-based learning. Instructors lead with curiosity — encouraging children to observe, ask questions, experiment, make mistakes, and try again. By the end of a session, campers feel proud of their scientific discoveries, art projects, and all they learned in nature.
