Mornings at GrowFit LEGO Camp center on hands-on building, design, and introductory robotics for children ages 6 to 9. Campers work through guided challenges as well as imaginative builds, using LEGO materials to explore how structures and moving creations work. The program emphasizes problem-solving and collaboration, and projects build across the week toward a showcase of campers’ creations. Examples include moving models and design challenges that give children practical ways to test ideas and revise their builds.
At midday, the specialty program shifts into GrowFit’s All-Sports Camp, giving campers a full day that combines focused creative work with active play. The afternoon includes a rotating mix of sports and games such as soccer, basketball, gaga ball, and bounce house tag. Movement breaks are also built into the morning specialty block so children are not sitting through long stretches of project time.
The Berkeley camp is hosted at The Academy and runs as a drop-off day program. The structured day is 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a morning LEGO block and afternoon All-Sports block. Campers are grouped by age, staff are screened, and supervision and emergency procedures apply throughout the camp day. Families should plan to send lunch, snacks, and water for this Berkeley program.

The day begins with the LEGO specialty program. Campers ages 6 to 9 take on hands-on building, design, and robotics activities in the morning. Program examples include moving builds such as a spinning Ferris wheel and twirling teacups, along with open-ended creations. Other challenges involve bridges, vehicles, cities, and imaginative builds. These projects introduce design and engineering ideas while giving campers practice with problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. Campers can test how a design works, make changes, and continue building as projects become more involved.
Movement breaks during the morning help campers stay active between project periods. At noon, LEGO campers transition into the All-Sports program and remain there through the end of the structured camp day at 4:00 PM. The afternoon format uses multiple sports and games rather than one specialized sport, with activities such as soccer, basketball, gaga ball, and bounce house tag.
The specialty camp requires a full-week commitment because the curriculum builds from day to day. A group celebration at the end of the day recognizes campers’ creativity and effort. The week culminates in a showcase of LEGO creations for the camp community.

Families should send food for the camp day. Campers should bring lunch and snacks, along with water. A hearty lunch and several snacks are recommended for the full day. Families are asked to report allergies during registration. The camp can accommodate a range of allergies, including peanut and gluten allergies, and may use measures such as nut-free lunch zones for severe allergies. Families of children who carry an EpiPen should make sure it is available to camp staff for emergencies.
Campers are supervised throughout the day, and staff members complete background checks and camp-specific training. Team leaders are trained in CPR, First Aid, and AED use. Safety preparation also covers concussion awareness, bullying prevention, EpiPen use, and emergency response. Camp teams practice evacuation procedures for situations such as fires, earthquakes, and lockdowns.
Drop-off and pick-up procedures are structured around authorized adults. A person age 18 or older should bring the camper to check-in, and only people listed as approved pick-up contacts may sign a child out. In an emergency, staff will call emergency responders and contact the parent or guardian promptly.
Families are asked to enter allergy information during registration and discuss needed accommodations in advance. For severe allergies, camp procedures may include measures such as nut-free lunch areas and keeping a camper’s EpiPen available for emergencies. Staff training includes EpiPen administration, and camp managers hold current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
For a minor injury, parents may be informed by phone, email, or at drop-off or pick-up. For an emergency, staff are directed to call 911 and then contact the parent or guardian. Families whose child may need additional support are asked to contact the camp before registering.
The Berkeley LEGO camp team includes LEGO builders, college athletes, child-development specialists, and educators. Team members are screened and trained for camp work. Staff complete background checks, emergency-response preparation, concussion-awareness training, and bullying-prevention training, while team leaders also receive CPR, First Aid, AED, and EpiPen training. Experienced educators lead the specialty groups, with counselors supporting both the creative morning program and the active afternoon. Camp managers maintain current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, and staff training is designed to support safe, age-appropriate participation throughout the day.
Parent communication for safety and logistics is available through the camp’s general email and phone support. Parents may be contacted by phone, email, or at drop-off or pick-up if a camper has a minor injury, and parents or guardians are contacted promptly in an emergency. Families can also get in touch in advance about allergies, additional support, or session transfers.
Drop-off is scheduled for 8:45–9:00 AM, with the structured program beginning at 9:00 AM. LEGO activities run through the morning before campers move into All-Sports at noon. Pick-up is scheduled for 3:30–4:00 PM, and the structured day ends at 4:00 PM. Before- and after-care are not currently offered.
Families should send comfortable clothing, a water bottle, lunch, and snacks. The LEGO specialty program requires a full-week commitment because projects and curriculum build from day to day. Families should arrive on time for the morning specialty block and complete allergy and authorized pick-up information during registration.
