Kids spend the morning making music in small groups, trying instruments, learning with instructors, and rehearsing with other campers. JN Music Studio Camp offers two pathways: Mini Maestros for ages 6–7 and Music Camp for ages 7 and up. Mini Maestros centers on rhythm, singing, movement, simple instruments, musical games, and group activities. The Music Camp option adds hands-on instrument study, group playing, and preparation for a short end-of-week performance. Each morning combines guided practice, listening, teamwork, and performance preparation.
A typical day begins with a welcome and Music Moment, followed by an Instrument Spotlight featuring a professional guest performer. Campers then move into instrument-specific breakout classes before joining band practice to work on Camp Concert songs. Piano, guitar, voice, drums, and ukulele are listed among the available instrument choices, with guest demonstrations that may include instruments such as trumpet, accordion, and flute.
No previous musical experience is required. Instructors adjust songs and techniques to meet children at their current level. The teaching team brings decades of combined experience, with music degrees represented from New York University, Biola University, Point Loma University, and West Coast Baptist College. The camp is hosted at The Gathering Church in Mira Mesa and runs as a one-week, morning program.

The morning follows a clear progression from whole-group music activities to focused instruction and ensemble practice. Campers start with a welcome assembly and Music Moment, then watch an Instrument Spotlight led by a professional guest performer. These demonstrations introduce children to instruments that may include trumpet, accordion, flute, and others before campers move into their own classes.
During breakout time, children receive instruction on the instrument selected for camp. The published options include piano, guitar, voice, drums, and ukulele, with additional instruments available. Teachers use songs and techniques appropriate to each child’s current experience, and beginners are welcome. Later in the morning, instructors form campers into bands and guide them through Camp Concert songs, giving children a chance to apply what they practiced in a group setting.
Mini Maestros adapts the experience for ages 6–7 through rhythm, singing, movement, simple instruments, musical games, and group activities. Music Camp, for ages 7 and up, emphasizes hands-on instrument exploration, playing together, and building toward a short performance at the end of the week. Each day closes with a musical game and send-off.
JN Music Studio reports that all camp staff are fully background checked and Live Scanned. Instruction is adjusted to each child’s current level, with appropriate songs and techniques used for beginners and more experienced students.
