SD United Summer Camps are designed for children who love movement, physical challenges, and trying something new. The camp takes place at SD United Training Center, a gymnastics-focused facility that also offers dance, parkour and ninja, tumbling, and preschool programs. Its overall approach combines structured instruction with an energetic, camp-like atmosphere where kids can stay active and have fun.
The summer camp is open to children ages 5 and up. That age range makes it especially appealing to elementary-age kids who are ready for more active group activities and want to build confidence through movement. Children do not need to be competitive gymnasts to enjoy the experience. SD United's recreational gymnastics program is designed for participants ages 5 and older, while the center also works with athletes in competitive programs.
Gymnastics is a major focus. The center follows USA Gymnastics standards and teaches skills across the Olympic gymnastics events. Its facilities include specialized equipment such as Air Tracks, tumbling trampolines, and multiple event stations.
The camp also connects with SD United's wider movement programs, including dance, parkour, ninja activities, and tumbling. That variety can keep the day interesting for kids who like switching between different physical challenges. The atmosphere is intentionally described as fun, exciting, and camp-like, with a strong sense of community.

The campers should arrive prepared for the day with enough food and drinks to stay energized during active activities. Because the camp involves gymnastics and other physically demanding activities, packing enough food and water is particularly important. Families should plan the child's lunch and snacks around a full day of movement and check directly with SD United if their child has specific dietary or allergy needs.
SD United places a strong emphasis on safe participation in sports and provides a dedicated Safe Sport resource for families. The center directs parents to the U.S. Center for SafeSport and USA Gymnastics for information about preventing misconduct and reporting concerns in youth sports.
The facility also uses equipment designed specifically for gymnastics training, including custom Air Tracks, tumbling trampolines, multiple event stations, and an in-ground foam pit. These facilities support progressive skill development and allow children to practice different movements in a purpose-built environment.
The camp website requires campers to wear comfortable gym clothing without buttons, zippers, or snaps. Long hair must be tied back. These rules are especially relevant for children using gymnastics equipment.
The summer program centers on movement, physical skills, and active play. Gymnastics is the main training foundation, with SD United also offering dance, tumbling, parkour, and ninja activities at its training center. Children can work on coordination, strength, balance, body control, and new movement skills while staying active in a group setting. The mix is particularly appealing to kids who enjoy challenges and want more than a traditional sit-down summer program.
