Flying on aerial apparatus, working through tumbling skills, and learning how a circus ensemble comes together give campers a week built around movement and performance. San Diego Circus Center Camps serves ages 7 to 17, with campers learning core circus fundamentals in separate 7–11 and 12–17 groups. The program mixes aerial and ground disciplines, including silks, trapeze, lyra, partner acrobatics, tumbling, juggling, clowning, dance, and trampoline.
The camp emphasizes both physical practice and creative expression. Campers work on strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, focus, posture, teamwork, and determination while trying new skills in a supportive environment. The week is organized around hands-on training rather than a single specialty, so children can experience several parts of circus arts and see how different skills fit together. Alongside physical skills, circus practice includes creativity, problem solving, resilience, empathy, and collaboration.
Each week ends with a 30-minute showcase where campers share what they have been working on. That performance element makes the camp a strong fit for children who enjoy active learning, creative movement, and working toward something they can present as a group. Camp days run Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the San Diego Circus Center training facility.

The camp runs in week-long blocks with six-hour days from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Campers are divided into two age bands, 7–11 and 12–17, so the training can be organized around different stages of youth development. Within the week, students become part of an artistic ensemble and work on the building blocks of circus through movement, play, creativity, and guided practice.
Training crosses several disciplines rather than staying with one apparatus. Aerial work includes silks, trapeze, and lyra, while ground-based practice includes partner acrobatics, tumbling, juggling, clowning, dance, and trampoline. Campers build strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, focus, posture, and determination while learning to try new things and express themselves through circus. Teamwork and collaboration are part of the ensemble format, alongside individual skill development and problem solving.
The week builds toward a 30-minute showcase. Campers use that final presentation to share the skills and combinations they have practiced during the session, giving the week a clear creative goal without turning the camp into a single-discipline intensive. The result is a varied week of aerial, acrobatic, object-manipulation, and performance practice connected by a shared ensemble experience.
Camp training takes place in a safe, supportive environment where students are encouraged to try new skills with guidance. Rigorous safety standards are part of the center’s training values, and campers work with experienced performers and coaches. The program separates campers into ages 7–11 and 12–17 and combines structured practice with age-group instruction across aerial and ground circus disciplines.
Families whose child has special needs that may need to be considered are asked to contact the center before camp. The team will do its best to accommodate those needs so they can be considered as part of the child’s camp participation.
Camp instruction is led by experienced performers and coaches. San Diego Circus Center has a team of more than 25 instructors across its programs, with a public roster of circus instructors and support staff. Founder and program director Jean-Luc Martin has a professional circus background that includes international performance work and training at École Nationale de Cirque. Campers receive guided practice and encouragement while developing circus fundamentals across aerial and ground disciplines.
Families can use the center’s public contact channels for questions about camp and registration. Parents are invited to reach out before camp when a child has special needs that may require consideration. Registration options are handled through the center’s linked TeamUp system, which provides the bookable course options for each age group.
