GrowFit All-Sports Camp

GrowFit All-Sports Camp

Berkeley, CA, USA

Overview

Days center on movement, variety, and age-grouped play. At the Berkeley All-Sports program, campers ages 4 to 10 rotate through a mix of sports and creative games chosen for their group. The Berkeley program describes nine games during the day, with indoor and outdoor spaces used for activities. Basketball and soccer are part of the mix, along with site features and games such as gaga ball, floor hockey, dodgeball, and a bounce house. Children do not need previous sports experience, and GrowFit says campers are grouped by age so activities and challenges can be adjusted for each group.

The camp day runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Games are broken up by snack and lunch time, plus a creative pause after lunch that may include LEGO building, slime projects, or other hands-on activities before campers return to active play. GrowFit’s Berkeley page also describes a closing shout-out circle where campers recognize one another’s efforts and counselors highlight the day’s positives. The program operates at The Academy in Berkeley, using outdoor basketball courts that can convert to turf fields as well as indoor play areas. Families should plan on a full day of active participation, bring food and water for the day, and use the published drop-off and pick-up windows.

Program

The All-Sports program is organized around a rotating set of games selected for each age group. The Berkeley camp describes nine different games during the day, generally in 30-minute blocks, with activities spread across indoor and outdoor areas. Campers ages 4 to 10 are grouped by age, and GrowFit says its teams tailor activities and challenges so children play with peers at a similar developmental stage. No previous sports background is required; both beginners and children who already play on teams are welcome.

The day includes active sessions, snack breaks, lunch, and a short change of pace after lunch. At Berkeley, that break may use hands-on projects such as LEGO building, slime crafting, or other inventive activities before campers return to sports and games. GrowFit’s All-Sports approach draws from its K-8 physical education curriculum, while the site manager chooses the day’s lineup rather than following one fixed activity list. The Berkeley program says camp finishes with a shout-out circle in which campers share positive comments and counselors recognize effort and participation. This structure gives children repeated chances to move, play with others, try unfamiliar games, and reset between high-energy blocks.

Meals

Families should send food for the camp day. GrowFit asks campers at most locations to bring a hearty lunch and several snacks; the Berkeley program is not the Redwood City location where lunch is listed as included. The camp packing guidance also recommends two water bottles. GrowFit says allergy information must be completed during registration, and it can accommodate a range of allergies, including peanut and gluten concerns. For severe allergies, the organization says it may use measures such as nut-free lunch zones and keeping a camper’s EpiPen available for emergencies.

Safety

GrowFit says campers are supervised throughout the day, staff undergo background checks, and team leaders and counselors complete safety-focused training. Team leaders are trained in CPR, First Aid, and AED, while both team leaders and counselors receive concussion, bullying-prevention, EpiPen, and emergency-response training. GrowFit also says its teams practice evacuation procedures for situations such as fire, earthquakes, and lockdowns.

For arrival and departure, a person age 18 or older must bring a camper into camp, and only people listed as approved for pickup may sign the camper out. The safety guidance also requires hand washing around lunch and restroom use and asks families to keep children home when they have COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms or relevant exposure.

Medical Care

Families are required to provide allergy information during registration. GrowFit says it can support a range of allergies and may use measures such as nut-free lunch zones while keeping a camper’s EpiPen available for severe allergies. Team leaders and counselors receive EpiPen training, and team leaders are also trained in First Aid, CPR, and AED.

For a minor injury, GrowFit says staff contact parents by phone, email, or at pickup or drop-off. In an emergency, staff call 911 and contact the parent or guardian. Families seeking additional support for a disability or medical need are asked to arrange those needs with GrowFit before registration.

Staff

GrowFit says Berkeley’s team includes child-development professionals and specialized educators. Across GrowFit camps, staff complete background checks and professional development for teaching camp. Team leaders have child-development study or substantial coaching experience and receive CPR, First Aid, AED, concussion, bullying-prevention, EpiPen, and emergency training. GrowFit also says managers hold current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. Counselors are described as educated in child development or experienced in coaching children and complete safety and emergency-response training, including concussion awareness, bullying prevention, and EpiPen use.

Communication

GrowFit says parents are contacted if a minor injury occurs, using phone, email, or an in-person update at drop-off or pickup. In an emergency, staff contact emergency responders and the parent or guardian. Families can also use GrowFit’s Help Center and general contact channels for registration questions, disability or medical-support arrangements, and other camp needs before the session begins.

Logistics

All-Sports runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a recommended drop-off window of 8:45 AM to 9:00 AM and pickup from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM. GrowFit allows late drop-offs and early pickups within camp hours and does not currently offer extended care. An adult age 18 or older should bring the camper in, and pickup is limited to approved people listed during registration. Campers should arrive with lunch, several snacks, water bottles, and suitable active clothing; sunscreen and sun protection are recommended for outdoor activity. All-Sports can be booked by the day when space is available, although GrowFit recommends reserving in advance.
